About Charlie Rees

The broad range of musical talents and accomplishments of saxophonist, composer/arranger and writer Charlie Rees were recognised early. At the age of just sixteen, he was recruited as a staff arranger for the ‘Woman to Woman’ tour by UK chart-topping singer/songwriters Beverley Craven, Judie Tzuke and Julia Fordham. That same year he had a work for big band commissioned in the 2018 Cambridge International Jazz Festival. On several occasions, he has appeared on lead alto sax with the London Jazz Orchestra , and has also conducted them. Several of his arrangements have also been performed by the LJO at most of their concerts in the 2022-23 season, becoming core repertoire for the band.
